Description

This very compact coffee berry was found in the mid 80’s by Roger Raiche on the San Francisco peninsula’s San Bruno Mountain. To only an eventual 3 feet or so, with shiny green leaves, the insignificant flowers (except to its pollinators or another Rhamnus) give way to pea-sized red and black fruit late summer through autumn. Summer drought loving along with really cruddy soil makes for an ideal low input landscape component. Full sun to light shade, decent drainage, USDA zone 7.
