Handsome oak, native from south Texas well into Mexico. Trees reach 30 ft or so in the garden with a canopy nearly that wide. Leaves emerge pinky red and mature to 6″ long, green with blue tints above, paler on the undersides. Drought tolerant once established but accepts, even likes, a bit of summer water in dry places. A wonderful street tree, very tolerant of urban conditions. Evergreen at least to the mid teens F, USDA zone 8 and frost hardy to 0F or below, zone 7.
