Description
One of our collections from high elevations in northwestern Argentina, the silky green, evergreen rosettes of 18″ or so with long narrow spines looking almost like feathers, make this a fabulous garden plant. The tall, 6 ft or more, sputniky flowers of silver, green and white add great drama — especially when cutting them back, as they are covered with spines. Looking for all the world like a xeric plant, these are best with at least occasional summer water where dry. Notably happy with heavy soils and even temporary inundation. Have been reliably frost hardy in USDA zone 7b.
