‘Skeeter’s Broom’ was found as a broom on a red Japanese maple and introduced by Skeeter Rodd, this Japanese maple is unique in that it is a larger growing Japanese maple with a dense compact habit and a narrow garden footprint. The ‘Skeeter’s Broom’ Japanese maple leafs out as a bright red before maturing to a maroon. Fall colors are a bright fire engine red. ‘Skeeter’s Broom’ may reach up to 15 ft in 15 years only reaching 5-6 ft wide. This makes an excellent addition to any garden as it does not take up a lot of room, but the ‘Skeeter’s Broom’ Japanese maple does provide a lot of color.
