‘Kryptonite is a new dwarf selection from the Area 51 Collection that was found as a variegated sport on Mikawa yatsubusa. The variegation is quite unique for a tree in the Mikawa Family. In the spring, light cream variegation is nice, but as the summer approaches the older growth looks like Manyo no sato. Kryptonite has the tight layering habit everyone loves with Mikawa yatsubusa, but the fall color is bright yellows to orange. Kryptonite may reach 3-4 ft in height and width in 10 years. Its rich seasonal colors will add dimension to your landscape, transforming your outdoor space in a matter of years. ‘Kryptonite’s’ tight layered branching makes it an ideal choice for small gardens or tight spaces, giving your garden a stunning appearance you’ll love.
