Hess Red Select is an upright classic red Japanese maple that was made by Hess Nurseries of Cedarville, NJ, in the early to mid 1900s. Hess Red Select leafs out in the spring as brighter red, turning to darker maroon. During the summer high heat, Hess Red Select turns a darker maroon which seems to hold fairly well. Hess Red Select may reach 8-10 ft in height in 10 years.

This rare red upright isnt often found in the nursery trade but makes a beautiful tree in the landscape and garden.
