Acer palmatum ‘Boskoop Glory’is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful upright red Japanese maples. Boskoop Glory leafs out in the spring as bright red, turning to a darker maroon. The backside of the leaf does get an orange-like hue which can give Boskoop Glory a glowing effect when sunlight hits the leaves. Boskoop Glory typically gets some emerald colors to the leaves in late summer. The fall colors are typically brilliant shades of bright fire engine red. Boskoop Glory may reach 10-12 ft in height in 10 years. It is believed by many that Boskoop Glory did not originate in the Netherlands as the name suggests, but was introduced by Wrights Nursery of Canby, Oregon, in the mid 1980s.
