‘Purple Haze’ is a newer hybrid selection of Acer griseum and Acer pseudoplatanus. The leaves are the size of the paperbark maple, but a solid leaf like Acer pseudoplatanus. The dark green foliage has a purple underside that makes this tree quite striking, where this hybrid gets the name ‘Purple Haze’. Fall color of ‘Purple Haze’ is a bright crimson red. ‘Purple Haze’ may reach 15 ft in 20 years.
