‘Royal Ruby’ is a European field maple that has a maroon colored new growth in the spring, which matures to a solid green. Flowers from the early spring on ‘Royal Ruby’ also mature to ruby red seeds in the late spring giving a great show through fall. ‘Royal Ruby’ turns to yellow in Autumn. ‘Royal Ruby’ may reach 12-15 ft in height with a dense shrubby habit in 10 years. ‘Royal Ruby’ was introduced by Van Nijnatten from the Netherlands in 1980.
